Hello, My name is Janet and I live in Ripley, WV. I will have been married to my husband Charley for 30 years come July of this year. We have three sons, Charley, Andrew and David. In addition to writing, I also enjoy sewing, crafting and picking blackberries in the summer.
I became a member of Appalachian WordSmiths last April and I have been writing ever since. I have learned so much in the past year from my fellow members. I enjoy writing children’s picture books and middle grade fiction. I am working on several stories. I have a picture book and middle grade story currently being sent to publishers. Wish me luck.
In my first year of writing I have signed a contract for a short story to be published in an anthology of Christmas tradition stories. Yiipee! My first acceptance!
I try to write what I know. A lot of my fiction pieces are based on family, past and present. I think the hardest part of writing is finding a publisher who will like what you write. I like to collect things and it seems my most recent collections are rejection letters…..but, I will continue to write and submit.
My new motto is — Keep writing until you get it right and someday you will find someone who loves your story as much as you do.
