Children’s Picture Books

June 23, 2008

I love writing children’s picture books! I have written several over the last twelve months.

I have submitted two to a contest. The winners will be announced on August 02, 2008 during the National Mustard Day Festival in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. They wanted mustard-themed children’s books manuscripts submitted.

I recently won an honorable mention in the emerging writers prose division of the WVWriters annual writing contest for my children’s picture book Amazing Miss Maizy. It is about a pretty scarecrow that the crows like. She is teased by the other scarecrows and the old farmer wants to take her out of the cornfield, but his wife will not let him, because she likes Maizy. After a storm comes and ruins his crop, an amazing thing happens in the garden during the night. Miss Maizy is never made fun of again by the farmer and other scarecrows.

Other picture books I have written are Daisy the Dachshund and Rising Sun.

Ideas come to me and I write. I hope some day to find a publisher who likes them as much as I do.

I wrote an article on last’s year mustard book out of Mt Horeb (just happened to be the museum curator’s creation) and I’m telling you, you have a great chance. Bravo! and good luck! Hope to see you snag the prize…..
